St. Simons Lighthouse Keeper’s Dwelling Restoration

Project Description

The St. Simons Lighthouse Keeper’s Dwelling sheltered lighthouse keepers and their families from 1872 until the 1950s, when keepers were made obsolete by the automation of the lighthouse. A recent report confirmed the need for interior and exterior repairs of the dwelling, which prompted the decision to restore the entire building to its 1872 appearance. Video documentation of the restoration was archived for historical preservation and assembled into a documentary for public outreach.
